One of the challenges that underground mines face during operation is reliable communications. Power and data points of presence are rarely available, especially near the mine face. This case study will talk about providing fast and reliable data communications to the mine face. Challenges faced in this environment will be discussed including ways to address them. It will also demonstrate that this can be done without needing specialist staff on site, allowing regular mine maintenance teams to install, maintain and extend the system as the mine develops.
