Managing Director, TMC Global
Trevor Manning runs an international business (TMC Global) that specialises in training and development of technical people who have transitioned into management. He is also still actively involved in microwave radio system design and planning, through his advisory board position with Vertel — the largest privately owned wireless carrier in Australia — which specialises in building networks for fixed and mobile telecoms services to the business and government sectors of public safety, health and education. Vertel has achieved various industry awards for its world-first achievement of MEF accreditation for Carrier Ethernet services over microwave radio access. In addition to various management positions, Mr Manning was technical director for Aviat Networks, a leading microwave vendor and was personally responsible for the radio link design of a $100m upgrade and expansion to the network for a large utility in South Africa.
Having international experience on both the operator and supplier sides of the business, in addition to having both designed and operated a network, Mr Manning brings a very real-world perspective to his seminars.
Trevor Manning has had the rare opportunity to see all the facets of designing and operating a microwave radio network. Having worked for both operators and suppliers, in a career spanning 30 years, he has also recently helped to design and build the world’s longest high capacity Ethernet link (>200km). He understands both the technical and commercial challenges to designing, building and operating networks.
His pragmatic approach to the subject will help unravel the mysteries of the many confusing standards, as well as simplify the complexities of radio design with its dependence on complex weather conditions, to equip you to know when, and how, to deploy microwave radio in current real-world networks.
Trevor Manning is the author of ‘Microwave Radio Handy Reference Guide’, and is also the author of the classic Artech House book “Microwave Radio Transmission Design Guide” (second edition).
