General Manager, Defence Law Enforcement and Security (DLES), Amber Technology Limited
For over 15 years, Ross Caston has been engaged in supplying audio and video transmission and delivery systems to Broadcasters, Public Safety agencies and the ADF. During this time, he has worked with a wide range of technologies in the digital domain. Originally engaged to deliver DVB-T transmitters for the national rollout of Digital Television, he has worked through successive eras of Digital Satellite Newsgathering (D-SNG), Digital Electronic Newsgathering (D-ENG) – utilising DVB-T and microwave – through migration to IP-based solutions with bonded cellular (D-MNG or Digital Mobile Newsgathering) and lately to full mobile mesh systems (Mobile Networked MIMO – MN-MIMO).
The migration to IP-based infrastructure has proved to be of particular importance to Public Safety agencies and the military, with the addition of remote control, telemetry, geospatial information and voice/text communications to mobile systems requirements. Ross now manages a dedicated DLES capability within Amber that caters for the growing and highly specialised requirements in this area.
